ELNORA’S BIBLE STUDY WITH FRIENDS, Galatians 4, Saturday, April 26, 2025

Context for Chapter  4 Galatians 3   ends with Paul stating, once more, that those who are in Christ are Abraham's offspring, just as  Christ, himself,  is  He has made us  heirs along with Him.  Galatians 4  continues that idea, showing how Christ's arrival signaled the moment all people could receive the inheritance with Him and be adopted as God's children. Paul makes his appeal personal, asking why the Galatians moved from blessing him to rejecting the message of Christ. The chapter ends with Paul's allegory about the difference between being born into slavery under the law and being born into freedom by the power of the Spirit through faith in Christ.  Chapter 5  will continue by expanding on the freedom we have in Christ. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, tho...

Context for Chapter 3 In Galatians chapter 2, Paul declared that we can only be justified—'' made right with God''—by faith in Christ and not by following the law of Moses. In chapter 3, Paul offers three arguments for why that is true. He argues from the Galatians' own experience, from the Scriptures themselves, and from the legal standpoint of a covenant contract. Finally, Paul answers what the law is for if it cannot save us from our sin. In part, it reveals our sinfulness and convinces us of our need to be saved by faith in Christ. Chapter 4 will expand on what it means to be an ''heir,'' spiritually .   ( https://www.bibleref.com/Galatians/3/Galatians-chapter-3.html ) The Law and Faith in Christ, Verses  1-14 ,  TBD 1Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross. 2 Let me ask you this one que...

Context for Chapter 2 In Galatians 1, Paul defended himself in order to defend the trustworthiness of his message. He made the case that he was a legitimate apostle. He shows in Galatians 2 that the other apostles stand with him in teaching the gospel of salvation through faith in Christ. He describes a moment in which he rebuked Peter for hypocrisy and then makes the case that only faith in Christ can bring justification for any person in the eyes of God. The works of the law can never make anyone righteous, or Christ would not have had to die.   ( https://www.bibleref.com/Galatians/2/Galatians-chapter-2.html ) Greetings & The Good News, Verses  1-10 ,  KESHIA 1Then fourteen years later I went back to Jerusalem again, this time with Barnabas; and Titus came along, too. 2 I went there because God revealed to me that I should go. While I was there I met privately with those considered to be leaders of the church and shared ...

Context for Chapter 1 Galatians 1 begins one of the most-loved books about God's grace in all of Scripture. This and the following chapter detail Paul's biography, as he makes the case that he has been made an apostle by Christ and, therefore his message is trustworthy. Chapters 3 and 4 go into depth about exactly what the gospel of God's grace is and why it is true. In chapters 5 and 6, Paul teaches about how Christians should live in the world as people who have received the grace of God through faith in Christ.  ( https://www.bibleref.com/Galatians/1/Galatians-chapter-1.html ) Greetings & The Good News, Verses  1-10 ,  DESTINY 1 This letter is from Paul, an apostle. I was not appointed by any group of people or any human authority, but by Jesus Christ himself and by God the Father, who raised Jesus from the dead. 2 All the brothers and sisters[a] here join me in sending this letter to the churches of Galatia. 3 May God the Father a...

Context for Chapter 13 2 Corinthians, chapter 13 follows Paul's listing of two sets of sins he is concerned he will find among the Corinthians when he arrives. These are personal divisions and sexual immorality. He warns them once more that nobody will be spared from Christ's discipline if they remain in sin. Paul urges them to examine and test themselves to see if Christ is in them. He prays for their restoration and hopes they will repent of sin so that he does not have to be severe with them in his authority as Christ's representative when he arrives.   ( https://www.bibleref.com/2-Corinthians/13/2-Corinthians-chapter-13.html) Paul's Advice, Verses  1-10 ,  KESHIA 1 This is the third time I am coming to visit you (and as the Scriptures say, “The facts of every case must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses”[a]). 2 I have already warned those who had been sinning when I was there on my second visit. Now...
