ELNORA’S BIBLE STUDY WITH FRIENDS, Galatians 1, Saturday, March 29, 2025

Context for Chapter 1 Galatians 1 begins one of the most-loved books about God's grace in all of Scripture. This and the following chapter detail Paul's biography, as he makes the case that he has been made an apostle by Christ and, therefore his message is trustworthy. Chapters 3 and 4 go into depth about exactly what the gospel of God's grace is and why it is true. In chapters 5 and 6, Paul teaches about how Christians should live in the world as people who have received the grace of God through faith in Christ.  ( https://www.bibleref.com/Galatians/1/Galatians-chapter-1.html ) Greetings & The Good News, Verses  1-10 ,  DESTINY 1 This letter is from Paul, an apostle. I was not appointed by any group of people or any human authority, but by Jesus Christ himself and by God the Father, who raised Jesus from the dead. 2 All the brothers and sisters[a] here join me in sending this letter to the churches of Galatia. 3 May God the Father a...

ELNORA’S BIBLE STUDY WITH FRIENDS, 2 Corinthians 13, Saturday, March 22, 2025

Context for Chapter 13 2 Corinthians, chapter 13 follows Paul's listing of two sets of sins he is concerned he will find among the Corinthians when he arrives. These are personal divisions and sexual immorality. He warns them once more that nobody will be spared from Christ's discipline if they remain in sin. Paul urges them to examine and test themselves to see if Christ is in them. He prays for their restoration and hopes they will repent of sin so that he does not have to be severe with them in his authority as Christ's representative when he arrives.   ( https://www.bibleref.com/2-Corinthians/13/2-Corinthians-chapter-13.html) Paul's Advice, Verses  1-10 ,  KESHIA 1 This is the third time I am coming to visit you (and as the Scriptures say, “The facts of every case must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses”[a]). 2 I have already warned those who had been sinning when I was there on my second visit. Now...

ELNORA’S BIBLE STUDY WITH FRIENDS, 2 Corinthians 12, Saturday, March 15, 2025

Context for Chapter 12 2 Corinthians 12 follows Paul's sarcastic ''boasting'' about his suffering for Christ. The chapter continues with Paul refusing to take credit for an astounding revelation from God. Given a ''thorn in the flesh'' to keep him humble, Paul learned to be content with his suffering since God's power was made perfect in his weakness. Still, the Corinthians should have defended him to the false apostles and not believed lies about him swindling money from them with no evidence. He is concerned that when he comes to visit them, he will find some still unrepentant of specific sins. This leads Paul to his final warnings and the close of his letter in chapter 13.   ( https://www.bibleref.com/2-Corinthians/12/2-Corinthians-chapter-12.html) Paul's Vision & the Thorn in His Flesh, Verses  1-10 ,  KITTY 1 This boasting will do no good, but I must go on. I will reluctantly tell about visions and revelations from t...

Context for Chapter 11 Chapter 11 follows Paul's warning in the previous chapter. There, he vowed to be as bold as needed when he comes to see them in person. He describes himself as a protective spiritual father trying to save the Corinthians from the deceptions of the false apostles to teach a false gospel about a false Jesus. He is shocked the Corinthians put up with their harsh treatment and says he has decided to foolishly boast in order to compete with the false apostles. His boasting about his service to Christ, though, is mostly a long list of all the ways he has suffered for Christ. That theme continues into chapter 12, where Paul explains just how much his suffering has improved his walk with Christ.   ( https://www.bibleref.com/2-Corinthians/11/2-Corinthians-chapter-11.html) Paul and False Apostles, Part 1, Verses  1-6 ,  TEANNIE   I hope you will put up with a little more of my foolishness. Please bear with me. 2 F...
