ELNORA’S BIBLE STUDY WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS, Philippians 2, Saturday, August 30, 2025

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA! 🎂🎂🎂 Context for Chapter 2 Philippians 1 focused on the importance of perspective. A Christian's life, lived for Christ, may be hard or easy, but all things can give God glory. Chapter 2 frames this concept through the humility shown by Jesus Christ. His willingness to obey God the Father, even being crucified, is the ultimate example of humble service. In return, His name will be honored more than any other. Paul's instructions regarding Timothy and Epaphroditus also form a bridge to chapter 3, where Paul will contrast these good men with the dangers of false teachers.  A S ource:   https://www.bibleref.com/Philippians/2 /Philippians-chapter-2 .html ) Have the Attitude of Christ, Verses 1-11 ,  Team Discussion 1 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate?   2  Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedl...

ELNORA’S BIBLE STUDY WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS, Philippians 1, Saturday, August 16, 2025

Context for Chapter 1 Chapter 1 introduces the major themes of Paul's letter. A large proportion of the passage is given to thanking the Philippian church for their loyal support of Paul. Paul also encourages them with a reminder that, good or bad, anything a Christian experiences can be used for the glory of God. This sets the tone for the rest of the letter, where Paul will continue to stress the importance of living out the Christian life. This, he says, starts with having a proper attitude and approach.   Philippians is another of the prison letters. These letters were written while Paul was in a Roman prison. He actively ministered even while in prison. The circumstances described in the letter acutally sound more like house arrest as opposed to being in the dungeons of a high security prison.  A S ource:   https://www.bibleref.com/Philippians/1 /Philippians-chapter-1 .html ) Paul's Thanksgiving & Prayer, Verses 1-11 ,  KESHIA This letter is from Paul and Ti...

Context for Chapter 6 Ephesians opens with three chapters of doctrine, followed by three chapters of practical application. This final chapter of Paul's letter focuses on specific ways Christians should live. It also summarizes the spiritual tools we are given by God, imagining them as a suit of armor. Paul pulls the same basic ideas from the rest of letter together, showing how Christians should live out their knowledge of what salvation in Christ really means.  A S ource:   https://www.bibleref.com/Ephesians/6 /Ephesians-chapter-6 .html ) Children and Parents, Verses 1-4 ,  TEAM REFLECTION 1 Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, [ a ]  for this is the right thing to do.   2  “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise:   3  If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” 4  Fathers, [ c ]  do not...

ELNORA’S BIBLE STUDY WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS, Ephesians 5, Saturday, August 2, 2025

Context for Chapter 5 Chapter 5 continues the very practical second half of the book of Ephesians. Chapter 4 encouraged Christians not to live as unbelievers do, but worthy of the gift we have been given. Chapter 5 gives even more direct application of these principles. Paul details impure attitudes and habits which Christians ought to put aside. He then details the proper approach to marriage, rooted in a Christian understanding of the gospel. This advice will continue into chapter 6. Paul's advice will culminate in a famous analogy about applying Christian principles to all of life, using the symbolism of a suit of armor.   A S ource:   https://www.bibleref.com/Ephesians/5 /Ephesians-chapter-5 .html ) Living in the Light, Verses 1-14 , Small  Group Discussion  Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.   2  Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.
